Strategic Communications and Public Relations Department is a structural unit of the Ministry of Defence of Georgia representing Ministry within its competence.


Competences of the Department:

  • Development and planning of strategic communication and public relations policy of the Ministry;
  • Development of the communication concept, strategy and action plan of the Ministry; Implement support and monitoring;
  • Receiving information about ongoing and planned activities from the structural units of the Ministry, legal entities of public law within the system of the Ministry, as well as legal entities of private law under their management, in order to develop a unified communication strategy of the Ministry;
  • In ​​accordance with the rules established by law, requesting information from the structural units of the Ministry system, legal entities of public law within the system of the Ministry, as well as relevant state agencies on defence and security cooperation between Georgia and the EU, as well as ongoing activities on Georgia's NATO integration and cooperation with the Alliance, and integration into the unified communication strategy of the Ministry;
  • With the participation of representatives of the structural units of the system of the Ministry, in order to define the strategic communication and public relations policy of the Ministry, as well as to develop the communication concept, strategy and action plan, preparation of proposals for the formation of groups and participation in the activities of these groups;
  • Within the scope of its competence, participation in development and implementation of the national and agency-level conceptual documents;
  • Development of communication tools and products, provision of information campaigns, preparation and dissemination of relevant content;
  • Relations with Georgian and foreign media outlets, media and communication experts, research organizations with the same working profile;
  • Within the scope of its competence, organization of joint events, workshops, seminars and conferences with non-governmental organizations, analytical and expert circles together with the structural units of the Ministry system;
  • Within the scope of its competence, cooperation with diplomatic missions accredited in Georgia, defence attachés and military/civilian missions, international organizations for the development of Strategic Communications capacity of the Ministry;
  • Conducting research and analytical work in order to study public opinion;
  • Within the scope of its competence, preparation of key messages for the events held at the international and national levels for the senior officials of the Ministry and the Defence Forces;
  • Preparation of press releases, news and visual materials for media representatives and dissemination in mass media;
  • Arrangement of thematic meetings, press conferences, briefings and media talks with representatives of the public and mass media;
  • Development and implementation of joint projects with the Public Broadcaster, private broadcasting companies and other media outlets;
  • Accreditation, registration and accompaniment of mass media representatives when visiting facilities within the system of the Ministry;
  • Planning and coordination of work with media representatives during the war and/or emergency situations or other special situations and hostilities;
  • Information provision, monitoring and permanent update of the official website and social networks of the Ministry;
  • General coordination of activities in the field of public relations of the structural divisions of the system of the Ministry;
  • Analysis of the positioning of the Ministry;
  • Monitoring / analysis of Georgian and foreign media and informing the management about the existing tendencies;
