On July 25, 2017 the presentation of the first “Georgian Military Encyclopedic Lexicon” was held at the Army Hall of the Ministry of Defence of Georgia. The event was attended by the Minister of Defence Levan Izoria.
In his address to the audience, Levan Izoria underlined the impotence of military education in the process of defence institutional building and expressed gratitude to the editors of the encyclopedic lexicon for their commitment in the development of military science in Georgia.
“Georgian Military Encyclopedic Lexicon” represents many years of dedicated work by the editor-in-chief Academician, Major-General (Ret) Elguja Medzmariashvili and the of the members editorial board: Major-General (Ret) Tengiz Shubladze, Zurab Abashidze, Giorgi Anchabadze, Colonel Mamuka Gogitidze, Major-General Vakhtang Kapanadze, Avtandil Sakvarelidze and Nodar Tsignadze.
Within the ceremonial event, a memorandum of cooperation was signed by the First Deputy Minister of Defence Lela Chikovani and the editor-in-chief of the encyclopedic lexicon Major-General (Ret) Elguja Medzmariashvili. According to the memorandum, the Ministry of Defence will create an electronic version of the lexicon and make it available exclusively on its website in 2018.
