Defence Minister Juansher Burchuladze met with the Chairman of the NATO Military Committee

The Minister of Defence of Georgia, paying visit to Brussels, met with the Chairman of the Military Committee of the Alliance. Minister Juansher Burchuladze thanked Admiral Rob Bauer for his steadfast support for Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as for its NATO membership aspirations.

As Minister Juansher Burchuladze underlined, implementation of the Document for Georgia-tailored Assistance Measures adopted at the Madrid Summit, will promote increasing of Georgia's defence capabilities and bring the defence and security sphere closer to NATO standards.

One of the topics of the discussions at the bilateral meeting was the security environment in the region, Russia's military aggression in Ukraine and the challenges faced by Georgia.
According to the Minister of Defense, maintaining a close cooperation with international partners is very important in the light of the security situation and challenges in the region.

The Kingdom of Belgium is hosting the NATO Defence Ministers' meeting on October 12-13. Within the framework of his visit to Brussels, the Minister attended the meeting of the contact group of Ukraine in Rammstein format and met with the Secretary General of NATO, Jens Stoltenberg.
