The basketball tournament named after Giorgi Ankshelidze continues in Batumi

The final stage of the "3X3" basketball tournament named after the national hero of Georgia Giorgi Ankshelidze continues in Batumi. The basketball tournament is held between the teams of the units of the Georgian Defence Forces. Deputy Minister of Defense Grigol Giorgadze and the Western Commander of the Defence Forces, Brigadier General Koba Grigolia attended the opening of the second stage of the tournament. They thanked the military for competing and wished them success.

This year, for the first time, reservists of the National Guard are participating in the competition. The winning team will receive a transitional cup named after Giorgi Ankshelidze, and the winners will be awarded with appropriate medals and certificates.

The championship was founded in 2020 on the initiative of Irakli Gharibashvili, and in connection with the national hero's birthday, it is symbolically named after Giorgi Ankshelidze. "3X3" basketball championship organized by the Georgian Defense Forces and supported by the National Basketball Federation is held every year in August.
