Higher National Defence Course was officially opened at the Defence Institution Building School (DIBS). Deputy Defense Minister of Georgia Grigol Giorgadze addressed the participants and emphasized that the course will contribute to the development of the defence and security system through military-civilian cooperation.
The governmental, non-governmental and private sector representatives participate in the course.The speakers, including high ranking government officials and security experts, will talk about forming of the country's security system and the role of non-governmental organizations, private sector, media and international institutions in this process. During five days, the attendees will familiarize with the national defense and security system, and ongoing reforms. The course participants will also take part in field events and a simulation game depicting a crisis situation.
Higher National Defence Course was formed similar to the courses adapted in the Scandinavian and Baltic countries, and since 2012, it has been held annually in Georgia with the support of the Estonian Ministry of Defence and the NATO Professional Development Program.
