Defense Minister Discussed Common Challenges and Aims with Finnish and Swedish Counterpart at NATO HQ

Within NATO Defense Ministerial in Brussels Defense Minister of Georgia held bilateral meetings with Finnish and Swedish counterparts. While conversing Juansher Burchuladze stressed on security environment and common challenges with Antti Kaikkonen and Peter Hultqvist. 

The sides stressed out that ongoing combat activities in Ukraine and complicated security environment widely increase threats and risks for Georgia and South Caucasus Region. In this context Juansher Burchuladze highlighted the importance of Western engagement as a main factor of peace, stability and rapid economic development in the region and outlined that Finland and Sweden’s strong support has critical importance in this respect. 

At the bilateral meetings the sides referred to implemented steps to NATO integration process and shared already passed reforms to one another. Juansher Burchuladze thanked his counterparts for sending high qualified Swedish and Finnish experts in JTEC – one of the most successful initiatives under SNGP. The counterparts also overviewed bilateral cooperation issues in defense sphere and expressed will to deepen cooperation in the future. 

 Within the NATO Defense Ministerial in the Kingdom of Belgium, Juansher Burchuladze plans to meet with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, as well as with Turkish, Bulgarian, Dutch, German and Lithuanian counterparts.
