Chief of Defense Forces Congratulated Military Policemen on Professional Day

Georgian Defense Forces marks Military Police Day on June 15. Chief of Defense Forces, Major General Giorgi Matiashvili congratulated military policemen on their professional day. The ceremony was held on the MP East Battalion base in Orkhevi. While delivering speech, Major General Giorgi Matiashvili stressed on the importance of military police and wished the personnel every success. 

Related to MP Day, the personnel were awarded with service pistols and medals. The military also received Letters of Appreciation on behalf of Defense Minister and Chief of Defense Forces. 

Development of Military Police is one of the initiatives of SNGP. As a result of already implemented reforms and modernization, the MP has become NATO interoperable unit that supports maneuver units as in discipline, also in executing combat tasks. In December 2020 the agreement was signed, under which Military Police Department was granted the status of partner to NATO MP Multinational Battalion. In September 2021, MP platoon of East Battalion was certified by NATO Multinational Battalion. The special evaluation gave the platoon capability to participate in NATO-led missions under NATO Multinational Battalion.
