Wounded Warriors participated in Invictus Games Returned to Georgia

The wounded warriors participated in Invictus Games in Hague returned to homeland. Deputies of Defense Minister and Chief of Defense Forces greeted them at the Tbilisi International Airport. Davit Chichinadze and Brigadier General Joni Tatunashvili thanked the warriors for their successful participation and congratulated them on Easter holiday.    

MoD wounded warriors’ team took the second place in sitting volleyball and Alex Beruashvili gained two gold and a silver medals. Akhmed Saparov gained bronze medal in 100-meter wheelchair racing. Murtaz Osepaishvili and Onise Jugeli also took bronze medals in Land Rover Challenge.

Invictus Games takes place since 2004 under the patronage of Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry in various countries. This year the Kingdom of Netherlands hosted the tournament. 

This year Georgian wounded warriors 20-manned team participated in various kinds of sport in Invictus Games, including sitting volleyball, archery, swimming, wrestling, athletics, rowing and competition by Land Rovers. Defense Minister also attended the tournament in Hague and supported Georgian wounded warriors on the ground.
