The Minister of Defence of Georgia attended a roundtable discussion in Greece within the framework of the EU Defence Ministerial. Together with the defense ministers of the EU member states, Minister of Defence of Georgia attended the Ministerial meeting as an exception. Defence Ministers of European Union discussed important initiatives like permanent structural cooperation (PESCO), European Defence Fund (EDF) and Coordinated Annual Review on Defence (CARD).
During discussions, ongoing cooperation in the field of defence between Georgia and the European Union and the prospects of partnership were highlighted. Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic membership aspirations and its participation in the EU Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP) were also discussed during the meeting.
Minister Juansher Burchuladze is paying visit to the Republic of Greece by the invitation of his Greek counterpart Nikolas Panagiotopoulos. As part of the visit, Georgian Defence Minister attended the Defence Exhibition Athens (DEFEA) as well.
Within the International Exhibition organized under the aegis of Ministry of National Defence of Greece, Minister of Defence of Georgia and the delegation members familiarized with land, marine, air, transport, logistics and the other modern equipment made by local and foreign companies, as well as the recent achievements in the field of defence. The exhibition represents the important platform for deepening the ties and defence cooperation as well as developing a military industry.
