Basic Summer Mountain Training Course held within the Partnership for Peace Programme has come to an end. The closing ceremony was held in a solemn environment at the drill ground of Besik Kutateladze Sachkhere Mountain Training School. Deputy Commander of the Georgian Defence Forces, Major General Zaza Chkhaidze congratulated the military servicemen on the successful accomplishment of the training course. He stressed the importance of the training and noted that such exercises, in addition to developing mountainous skills, also help to strengthen ties between the countries. At the end of the ceremony, the graduates were awarded certificates, badges and gifts.
The Basic Summer Mountain Training Course went on for three weeks in Sachkhere and Chiatura Training stations and was participated by American, Latvian, Estonian, Turkish, and Ukrainian military along with Georgian soldiers. They performed exercises in moving on mountainous terrain, evacuating the injured, landing on a rock, climbing a fixed rope, climbing a rock, crossing a river and overcoming an obstacle. At the next stage, the course participants will take an intermediate summer training course in mining.
