The Giorgi Antsukhelidze Academy of Sergeants of the Georgian Defence Forces hosted a Sergeants' Professional Day event. The ceremony was attended by Defence Ministry officials and invited guests.
Deputy Minister of Defence, Grigol Giorgadze, Deputy Commander of the Defence Forces, Major General Zaza Chkhaidze, and Chief Sergeant of the Defence Forces, Giorgi Gogochuri, congratulated the sergeants on their professional day and emphasized the important role of sergeants in the Defence Forces. In their speeches, it was underlined that Georgia has a professional education system for sergeants that meets NATO standards. The speakers also talked about Giorgi Antsukhelidze, a national hero named after the Sergeant Academy.
The sergeants, for their high level of professionalism demonstrated while carrying out their duties, as well as the heads of the training courses, were awarded the medal "Giorgi Antsukhelidze" relating to the professional day. The Sergeant Academy's military servicemen were thanked by the Commander of Exercises and Military Education for their excellent performance of their duties.
The graduation ceremony for the courses of the Academy of Sergeants - the second stage of the sergeants' basic military education and the programs of the second stage of the sergeants' introductory military education was also held today. Graduates were awarded diplomas. 43 servicemen completed stage II of the first level of basic military education of sergeants, and 53 finished stage II of the basic military education of sergeants. They underwent theoretical and practical training during the 16-week training period. The Sergeant Training School was established in 2003. In 2013, the educational unit was named after the Georgian national hero Giorgi Antsukhelidze. Giorgi Antsukhelidze Sergeant Academy conducts training courses in accordance with the system of graduate education of sergeants.
