As a part of the working visit to Latvia, Defense Minister of Georgia Juansher Burchuladze visited NATO STRATCOM Center of Excellence. Defense Minister discussed the NATO-Georgia cooperation issues, importance of strategic communications and issues to strengthen cooperation in this respect with Director of the NATO STRATCOM Centre of Excellence Jānis Sārts.
The sides stressed on effective ways to fight against modern informative threats and propaganda. Regional security environment, disinformation campaigns from Russia and ways to overcome them were highlighted at the meeting as well.
It was emphasized that cooperation with NATO STRATCOM Centre of Excellence has been successfully ongoing since 2016 that fosters to improve the capabilities of Georgia’s strategic communications on institutional and national levels.
It is worth to outline that Strategic Communications is one of the initiatives of NATO-Georgia Substantial Package. Strategic Communications Course was established at Defense Institution Building School (DIBS) under the cooperation with NATO STRATCOM Centre of Excellence that aims to prepare strategic communications specialists employing in defense and security sector.
