Minister of Defence familiarized with the process of construction of apartments in Varketili Military Town

The construction and repair works of residential apartments is coming to an end in Abashvili Street in Varketili. By the end of the current year, over 600 military servicemen will receive apartments in different locations, with which the Ministry of Defence will fulfill its 2007 contract obligations to contract-based military servicemen. Today, Irakli Garibashvili got acquainted with the process of construction of block of flats in Abashvili Street together with Commander of Defence Forces, Major General Giorgi Matiashvili and Deputy Minister of Defence Juansher Burchuladze.

The construction of N13 and N15 buildings will finish until the end of the current year. 

Currently, internal engineering-communication, fencing and facade works are underway in both buildings. At the end of the year, the apartments will be handed over to the military in white frame condition. The buildings will be equipped with passenger and freight elevators, the area around the buildings will be improved and planted with greenery.

Providing the military personnel with apartments into ownership under the contract has launched since 2013. Improving their social conditions is among the top priorities of Ministry of Defence. Since 2013 to date,
based on the contract approved by the Order №135 of Minister of Defence of Georgia dated back on March 19, 2007, the apartments registered on the balance of the Ministry of Defence was transferred to 1374 persons.
Creating the decent conditions for the military and providing them with decent residential apartments is one of the important directions of the MoD social policy.
