Modernization of Auto Park to be Continued at Georgian Defense Forces

Under the initiative of Defense Minister of Georgia, modernization of Auto Park is in active phase. Defense Ministry purchased 160 items of Ford Ranger 0.75 ton Pick-Up trucks within the program of purchasing NATO standards new equipment, stated by Defense Minister Irakli Garibashvili.   

 

Defense Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili and Chief of Defense Forces, Major General Giorgi Matiashvili attended the new vehicles transferring process to the military units at Vaziani IV Mechanized Brigade. As Defense Minister stated, equipped the military units with new vehicles supports to improve capabilities of Defense Forces, increase its mobility and implement tasks effectively.  

 

The project initiated by Defense Minister aims to complete Defense Forces with auto and special vehicles and improve defense capabilities. Purchasing of new vehicle means is an important decision for costs efficiency as keeping and repairing of old equipment amounts to million GEL for Defense Forces in a year.

 

New vehicles will be distributed to the military units of Defense Forces according to the elaborated plan due to necessity.

 

According to the project initiated by the Minister, old soviet made special vehicles will be replaced by the modern special auto vehicles produced by the world and European leading companies, such as German “MAN”, Italian “IVECO” and American “FORD”. In total, Defense Ministry plans to purchase more than 500 items of special vehicles.
