Agreement to be concluded between MoD and Israeli based State Company “Rafael”

On purpose to strengthen Georgia’s air defense capabilities Defense Ministry of Georgia and Israeli based state company “Rafael concluded an agreement. According to the agreement, air defense systems will be fully rehabilitated and modernized.


Prior to the conclusion of the agreement Defense Minister Irakli Garibashvili discussed the issues concerning improvement and modernization of Georgia’s air defense capabilities with Rafael’s representatives. The sides referred to cooperation prospects and future plans, including training of personnel. 

Rafael Advanced Defense Sistemas Ltd. is founded within Israeli Ministry of Defense that has been at the forefront of advancements in defense, cyber and security solutions for air, land, sea and space, as well as expanding its global industrial cooperation programs.

Rafael Advanced Defense Systems Ltd. is an Israeli defense technology company founded within the Israeli Ministry of Defense. Rafael develops and produces weapons, military, and defense technologies for the Israel Defense Forces and for export abroad. All current projects are classified.


One more meeting on aviation development issues was held at MoD as well. Irakli Garibashvili met with Elbit Systems representatives where the sides discussed the issue of equipping aircraft with modern radio-electronic systems, which ensures NATO standards to aircraft and helicopters in the Georgian Defense Forces.

Elbit Systems develop and supply a broad portfolio of airborne, land and naval systems and products for defense, homeland security and commercial applications.

Deputy Defense Minister Juansher Burchuladze, Commander of Defense Forces, Major General Giorgi Matiashvili, his deputy Brigadier General Irakli Chichinadze and Commander of Aviation and Air Defense, Colonel Sergo Ninua.
