Modernization of aviation is in the active phase

Implementation of a project initiated by the Minister of Defence of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili with regard to development of aviation is in the active phase. Su-25 type jet aircrafts belonging to the Georgian Defence Forces have already been brought to the Aviation Factory and JSC TAM “Tbilaviamsheni” is carrying out overhaul of military aircrafts. Today, Irakli Garibashvili received detailed information about ongoing renovation and infrastructural works directly from the specialists. Under his decision, besides Su-25, rehabilitation and modernization of attack helicopter Mi-24, UH-1 and L-39 is also scheduled.

The project is being implemented by JSC TAM “Tbilaviamsheni” and LEPL State Military Scientific-Technical Centre “DELTA”. Along with the modernization and rehabilitation of aircrafts, the project envisages training and retraining of personnel and arrangement of relevant infrastructure.

Modernization and overhaul of aircrafts is in line with the Defence Minister’s Vision under the Defence Forces Development Plan and is aimed at strengthening and development of aviation units of the Georgian Defence Forces.
