The last flow of the 12th Battalion of I Infantry Brigade of the Georgian Defence Forces arrived in Georgia from Afghanistan last night. The return of the full contingent to the motherland was carried out on a step by step basis. According to the recommendations of the World Health Organization and Georgian epidemiologists, Georgian peacekeepers will go through a two week quaranteen and then return to the unit.
The 12th Battalion, led by LTC Giorgi Jincharadze, fulfilled Resolute Support Mission under the US command at Bagram Airfield. The task of the Battalion was to protect the security of the air base.
The13th Battalion replaced the 12th Battalion on a rotation basis. The peacekeeping contingent has already taken over the authority for the mission and launched fulfilling its duties along with coalition forces.
