Defense Ministers of Georgia and France Held Bilateral Meeting in Brussels

Defense Minister of Georgia held meeting with his French counterpart Florence Parly within NATO Defense Ministerial. Irakli Garibashvili underlined the importance of partnership in defense sphere and thanked France for its contribution in improving Georgia’s defence capabilities. France’s assistance in leading the Air Defense Initiative under the NATO SNGP umbrella was highlighted as well.

 

The sides discussed strategically important “Dimitri Amilakhvari Strategic Dialogue” that galvanizes political and practical consultations with French side. 

 

Visit of French military ships in the Black Sea port on regular basis was highlighted at the meeting. Importance of joint participation of Georgian and French military in international missions in Africa and multinational exercises was stressed on as well. Defense Ministers of Georgia and France also referred to bilateral defense cooperation issues and future prospects of partnership.
