Chief of the Georgian Defence Forces was awarded with the French National Order of Merit

Chief of the Georgian Defence Forces Liutenant-General Vladimer Chachibaia was awarded with the French National Order of Merit with Commander Grade by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of France to Georgia Diégo Colas.
The French Ambassador granted the National Order of Merit to the Georgian General for unwavering support of friendship and cooperation between Georgia and France. H.E. Diégo Colas noted that the medal is a symbol of friendship and steadfast support for bilateral cooperation manifested in Georgia’s contribution to the European Union Training Mission in the Republic of Central Africa (EUTM RCA) where the Georgian contingent is carrying out mission shoulder to shoulder with the French military and cooperation between the mountain military units as well. The French Ambassador thanked the Chief of the Georgian Defence Forces for close cooperation in defence sphere between Georgia and France.

The National Defence Medals were also awarded to the Georgian officers – Colonel Giorgi Shengelia and Captain Kakhaber Asatiani for participation in EUTM RCA and EUTM Mali.

The First Deputy Defence Minister Lela Chikovani, leadership of Georgian Defence Forces and Defence Attache of the Republic of France to Georgia, LTC Danny Pith attended the event at the Embassy of France.
