Multinational Exercise Agile Spirit 2019 Launches

“The multinational exercise fully responses the policy stated by our country, that is – More NATO to Georgia and More Georgia to NATO. Agile Spirit 2019 is one of the most large-scale exercises hosted by Georgia. This training is one more demonstration of Georgia’s way to NATO,” – Chief of General Staff of the Georgian Defense Forces, Lieutenant General Vladimer Chachibaia opened the multinational exercise Agile Spirit 2019 with these words in Senaki. 

Commander General of the Georgia Army National Guard, Brigadier General Randall Simmons addressed to the military servicemen participating in the international exercise on the drill ground of II infantry Brigade, Senaki. “Georgia is a key US strategic partner and integral member of the alliances we all share. Agile Spirit is much more than just a US and Georgian event. There are 14 total nations represented here with over 3 000 troops participating. Your presence here demonstrates your country’s resolve to support peace and stability in this region and the world,” - stated US General.   

Agile Spirit 2019 is being held in Georgia from July 27 through August 9 for the ninth time. This time the exercise will be held on three locations – II Infantry Brigade in Senaki, Orpolo and Vaziani fire ranges. More than 3000 military servicemen of NATO member and partner countries will participate in Agile Spirit 2019.  The following 14 countries are engaged in the exercise: Georgia, USA, UK, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Norway, Belgium, Bulgaria, Greece, Montenegro, Romania, Turkey and Ukraine. 

Agile Spirit 2019 is aimed to enhance interoperability, train and improve operational capabilities of exercise participants during planning and execution of operations in real time within multinational environment; as well as making contribution in maintaining stable and secure environment over the Black Sea region. 

The scenario of the combined multinational exercise includes command, staff and field trainings with live fire, engagement of maneuver and combat support elements in defensive and offensive operations.
