Personnel of a Company of the III Infantry Brigade of the Georgian Defence Forces have already arrived at the military base “Marmal”, Mazar-e-sharif, Afghanistan. Senior National Representative of the Georgian Defence Forces, Colonel Zakaria Kalandadze, Sergean-Major Giorgi Gogochuri and Chief of the Company of the I Infantry Brigade, Major Nikoloz Vashakmadze met the servicemen at the military airfield.
A Company of the III Infantry Brigade will transfer the authority from the Company of the I Infantry Brigade in a few days and will be involved in the “Resolute Support” mission.
A Company of the III Infantry Brigade headed by Captain Levan Endeladze will carry out a “Resolute Support” mission within 7 months in Mazar-e-Sharif, under the German Command. The main task of the Georgian peacekeepers is to provide security of the base and to fulfill the rapid reaction tasks.
Before Deployment to the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, the unit passed three-month training in Georgia and five-month combat training in Germany and received the highest assessment.
