Transformation of Georgia`s Defence Forces continues. Chief of Georgian Defence Forces General Major Vladimer Chachibaia familiarized the heads of strucutural units of Defence Forces with transformation process which is implemented within the policy of Minister of Defence of Georgia Levan Izoria.
Chief of Defence Forces focused on the priority areas such as enhacement of combat preparation of military, structural transformation, development of combat capabalities, improvement of management systems and executing institutional reforms. It should be noted that transformation will extend to Special Operations Forces as well to further increase their efficiency. The main essence of the reorganization is to develop two SOF battalions that will be ofsimilar standards and capabilities. These changes are unprecedented and are aimed at the improvement of command and controlling capacity for the accomplishment of combat tasks. According to the development strategy, the SOF will be equipped and prepared so as to satisfy the operational needs of Defence Forces and to promote better interoperability with NATO.
Transformation does not include reduction of civil and military personnel. During the process, recommendations of partner countries and military advisors will be taken into consideration.
