Military Orchestra of Georgia Marks its 25th Anniversary

Military orchestra of National Guard of the Georgian Armed Forces marks its 25th anniversary. The orchestra celebrated its jubilee with concert and performed classical and modern compositions of well-known composers all over the world.

Defense Minister of Georgia Levan Izoria and Chief of General Staff of the GAF, Major General Vladimer Chachibaia congratulated the military musicians on their anniversary. They highlighted the importance of military orchestra for the country and wished the musicians every success.

Within 25-year of existence the military orchestra tightly cooperates with famous military bands of various countries of the worlds. The conductors of military orchestras of the Baltic countries arrived to Georgia especially for this day and performed several compositions with the Georgian counterparts.

The presentation of video clip “Tbiliso” performed by the military orchestra was offered to the audience by the ends of the concert.

High officials and employees of the MoD, diplomatic corps, army friends and family members of the military musicians attended the concert.

The history of military orchestra of National Guard of Georgian Armed Forces starts out in 1991, time when Georgia regained its independence and Armed Forces was established. In the beginning its repertoire consisted of national anthems, military marches and requiems. Later, the orchestra extended the list of performed music and nowadays, besides official music, Georgian Armed Forces Military Orchestra performs world known composers’ works both classical and contemporary genre. Military Orchestra has participated in International Military Bands’ Festivals. It includes participation in various Georgian Art or foreign Military Bands’ Festivals in Riga, Latvia, BLACK SEA JAZZ FESTIVAL in Batumi, Military Bands’ Festival in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman as well as in joint concerts with world class pianists Lekso Toradze and Edisher Savitski.
