The reforms planned for the air defence system development were highlighted in Ministry of Defence. First Deputy Minister of Georgia Lela Chikovani hosted French Team of Experts working on air defence initiative in the framework of Substantial NATO-Georgia Package (SNTP). Chief of the General Staff of the Georgian Armed Forces Brigadier General Vladimer Chachibaia and his Deputy COL Shalva Jabakhidze attended the meeting.
The Georgian and French sides agreed upon the cooperation format which will promote further improvement of Georgia`s air defence system interoperability with NATO considering current regional security challenges.
Lela Chikovani thanked the French side for their efforts and hoped that fruitful cooperation with France will continue in future: “this visit is a clear demonstration of active engagement of France in the realization of the tasks under the above-said initiative.”
Air defence initiative is one of the elements of Substantial NATO-Georgia Package which aims at the development of national defence capacity in general, enhancing interoperability with NATO, strengthening regional security and facilitating Georgia`s NATO integration process.
