The Chief of General Staff of the Georgian Armed Forces, Major-General Vakhtang Kapanadze pays an official visit to Brussels. General Kapanadze will attend the Military Committee in Chiefs of Defence Session and hold bilateral meetings with his foreign counterparts. On the first day of the visit, the Chairman of NATO Military Committee, General Petr Pavel hosted the Chief of General Staff of the Georgian Armed Forces. Security situation in the region was one of the main topics of discussion of the meeting. The sides talked about Georgia’s NATO integration aspiration and progress of implementation of the Substantial NATO-Georgia Package (SNGP). Special focus was made on the process of establishment of the Joint Training and Evaluation Center and periodic NATO exercises in Georgia as part of the SNGP. Head of the Mission of Georgia to NATO, Ambassador Alexander Maisuradze and Military Representative of Georgia in NATO, Colonel Irakli Dzneladze attended the meeting.
On January 21st, Major-General Vakhtang Kapanadze will attend the NATO Military Committee in Chiefs of Defence Session in Resolute Support Format, where the participants will discuss the progress of the NATO-led Resolute Support Mission in Afghanistan and the future military contributions. Within the frames of the visit to Brussels, the Chief of General Staff will meet with the American, French, German and Turkish colleagues. Bilateral meetings are scheduled with the Chairman of the EU Military Committee, General Mikhail Kostarakos and Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Europe (DSACEUR) General Sir Adrian Bradshaw.
