Defence Minister Tinatin Khidasheli met with the Chairman of United States Institute of Peace (USIP) Stephen Hadley and President of USIP Dr. Nancy Lindborg during her visit to the United States. The sides discussed NATO-Georgia Relations, NATO Foreign Ministerial results and future plans.
Stephen Hadley declared that Georgia is on the right track on the way to NATO membership and MAP does not constitute a barrier in the integration process. As he said Georgia should get maximum profit from cooperation with the Alliance and use all tools at hand to prepare for membership.
Situation in the occupied regions of Georgia, Russia’s policy related to Abkhazia and the so called South Ossetia and prospects for resolution of the problems was also discussed at the meeting.
